The 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante

Aston Martin’s refreshed range is set to debut in 2018. The British marque has confirmed production of the DB11 Volante and previewed its ‘engineering car’.

The DB11 Volante will be one of the first of the new line-up to hit the roads in the spring of 2018, the rest will roll out over the next 5 years. Aston Martin has given the public a sneak peak at the DB11 Volante engineering car, which should only slightly differ from the production car  in 2018.

Images show that the DB11 Volante will have a folding soft-top roof rather than the hard-top Aston’s of old. The new Aston will benefit from the weight-savings and quicker deployment that a soft-top roof offers. The soft-top will be multi-layered fabric made of sound-deadening material.

The Volante will undergo chassis strengthening and aerodynamic adjustments increasing downforce to compensate for the lack of fixed roof. The suspension system is expected to be softened and the car’s kerbweight will be marginally more than the Coupe.

The DB11 convertible will run on the same twin turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine as the Coupe. The new car should have similar performance, producing 600bhp and be capable of around 0-62mph in 3.9seconds with a top speed of 200mph.

Aston Martin will reveal the car in full before order books open in 2018. No pricing has been released, however a price tag of around £155,000 is expected.
