25 ‘new’ Jaguar D-types to be built
Jaguar Classic have announced they will build 25 ‘new’ examples of the three-time Le Mans winning Jaguar D-type, with the first example due to be displayed on the 7th February at the Salon Retromobile in Paris.
Each D-type will be meticulously built to the original engineering blueprints from the 1950s and the lucky customers will be able to choose from the original 1955-spec shortnose body, or the 1956 longnose spec. They will all feature the iconic, rasping 3.4-litre straight-six engine.
The idea of reviving the D-type came about as a desire to satisfy Jaguar’s original vision of creating 100 D-types, where only 75 were originally produced.
