A First Glimpse of the New Jaguar XF.

Jaguar has released teaser photos of its second generation XF which will make its debut at the New York show in just a couple of weeks. The single exterior image released offers a bird’s eye view of the car’s sharp new bodywork.

The new XF will be launched on the 24th of March when it will be driven by British stuntman Jim Dowdall over two 34-mm diameter wires high above water, showcasing thus its lightweight credentials.

The model hints at the firm’s intentions to make its next executive saloon the best driver’s car in its class. The head of Jaguar design, Ian Callum, said that “… the XF will be the best-looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity…”

The XF is expected to be up to 100kg lighter than before, thanks to its all-aluminium construction. As for engines, it’ll likely get 2.0-litre Ingenium petrols and diesels, supercharged V6s and V8s. It is expected to return fuel economy of 70mpg-plus and CO2 emissions close to 100g/km.

The interior of the new XF is based on the theme of the XE, but looks cleaner and more luxury. A new dashboard and larger touchscreen is shown in the centre console, and plusher materials also appear to have been used. Jaguar’s new infotainment system, which includes the InControl Apps system and it’s described by its makers as “one of the most advanced voice recognition packages in
the world”

The new XF will go on sale in the autumn, and prices are expected to rise slightly with a basic SE costing around £31,000 and a top-spec Portfolio starting at just over £50,000.
