An Upgrade for the 2014 Audi A6

An Upgrade for the 2014 Audi A6

The Audi A6 has undergone some subtle modifications for 2014. These minor changes improve the efficiency of the model. The improved A6 is expected to be on sale in late 2014, with entry-level model prices starting around £32,000, although official prices are yet to be confirmed. The current A6 model is a popular company car and therefore the improvements to the efficiency will be an attractive benefit for Managers. The updated A6 produces 64.0mpg with 114g/km; meaning road tax for the model costs just £30 a year. The engines offered with the A6 are all EU6 emission compliant. Along with the 2.0 TDI Ultra, there are three further engine options, all 3.0 litre V6 turbos. These include a single turbo V6 producing 218hp, compared with the previous 204hp engine. Another single turbo V6 producing 272hp, an improvement of 17hp on its predecessor. Finally, there’s a range topping diesel twin turbo engine producing 320hp, which is an increase of 7hp on the previous engine. The improved A6 is offered with a variety of transmissions, including a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed S tronic dual clutch, whilst the diesel model is offered with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Due to the internal changes, the CO2 emissions have been reduced by as much as 22 per cent. In addition to this, features including reinforced fibreglass have saved 4.4kg of weight and consequently, save the model more fuel. As well as the standard steel spring suspension, there are optional variants. These include a Sport suspension which lowers the model by 20mm and comes as a standard on the sporty S line trim. There is also an SE variant which lowers the model by a further 10mm. In terms of styling modifications, the A6 has been given a new grille, air intakes, bumpers, side sills and revised exhaust tailpipes and rear lamps. Xenon lights have been made a standard, with Matrix LED lights optional. Their brighter light with reduced dazzle for oncoming drivers is expected to improve safety. Despite the styling changes, there has been no impact on the cabin and luggage space. The A6 has also been given in-car multimedia upgrades, including an 8-inch colour screen and SatNav. As a result of the fast 4G internet option, there is an online connected service and apps available too. Overall, the styling changes are very subtle; the A6 already ticked the design box, so why change it?
