Aston Martin DB11 Spied During Testing

Dubbed the DB11, Aston Martin’s new replacement for the DB9 has been spotted during testing at the Nürburgring.  Due to go on sale in 2017, the latest images suggest the new model will feature a low roofline with an abrupt rear end.

Built around an all-new aluminium structure, the DB11 will be powered by a new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG.  The V8 will be an off-the-shelf engine, modified to deliver the sound, response and feel of an Aston Martin engine.

The new car will be “dramatically” lighter than the current DB9, improving performance and delivering 20% better economy and emissions figures.

The name of the new model is yet to be confirmed, but “It will definitely be a DB” says Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman.  DB11 is the current front runner, as DB10 is being used as the designation for James Bond’s car in the forthcoming film, Spectre.
