Aston Martin’s ‘Spitfire 80’ special edition V12 Vantage S

To celebrate the iconic Spitfire’s 80th anniversary, Aston Martin’s Q personalisation team are building 80 special Vantages.

Aston’s Spitfire 80 celebrates the warplane in all its glory. Each will feature bespoke parts made by the Aircraft Restoration Company in Duxford – the original RAF base for the Spitfire. These parts reflect elements of the Spitfire The new tailpipe tips give the same effect as the plane’s exhaust, resulting in a ‘rainbow bloom’ finish and there is an aluminium bar inserted in the cabin which mimics the strut brace.

The Spitfire 80’s will be finished in ‘Duxford Green’ with contrasting yellow pinstripes along the bootlid and sides of the car, mirroring the Spitfire’s styling. The special edition receives colour-coded bonnet louvres, a new satin-carbonfibre front spoiler and rear diffuser. The exterior is finished with solid silver Aston Martin badges, with an Old English White inlay. The cars side strakes can be lacquered with a Spitfire’s serial number on request.

The interior harks back to the spitfire with saddle leather and sheepskin floor mats, red webbing across the door inserts and pulls, and Spitfire 80 logos embroidered onto the headrests. The RAF’s signature roundel has been incorporated into the dashboard and the airbag covers have unique aircraft identification codes.

The Vantage S is powered by a 565bhp, 5.9-litre V12 engine, delivering 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and a flat out speed of 205mph.

The handover will take place at the AirSpace exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, and each buyer will receive a talk from a veteran Spitfire pilot. Buyers then drive their new wheels along the runway and watch an Mk1 Spitfire display.

Each car comes with an embossed manual, special edition car cover and a leather photo album filled with images of the handover, unique to each customer. Buyers can also purchase special accessories, including a flying helmet, goggles and Spitfire 80 Irvin jacket.

All 80 models are being sold exclusively out of Aston Martin Cambridge and with every car sold a donation will be made to the RAF welfare charity and the RAF Benevolent fund. The Spitfire 80 edition is priced at £180,000.
