Audi reveal New R8 with more power
Audi’s 2019 R8 supercar has undergone a facelift resulting in more performance and a fresher design that’s more in-line with Audi’s current range. The updated R8 features more power, more torque, sharper handling and new styling elements.
Audi have retained the 5.2-litre V10 and given it extra power. It now produces 562bhp (up from 533bhp) with an impressive 406lb ft. of torque. The Spyder will reach 200mph, with 1mph more for the coupe and will hit 62mph in 3.4 seconds in coupe form and 3.5 seconds in the Spyder. The R8 Performance (previously Plus) also gets a power boost to 612bhp (previously 602bhp), with 428lb ft. of torque, which will propel the coupe to 62mph in 3.1 seconds (a tenth slower for the Spyder). The Coupe will reach a top speed of 205mph, with 204mph for the Spyder.
Subtle changes to the suspension will make the handling sharper, which Audi say will also offer more distinction between the comfort, auto, dynamic and individual drive modes. The Performance will now get additional dry, wet and snow modes to optimise traction. External design tweaks give the R8 a wider, meaner stance, with a new singleframe grille, honeycomb rear grille, diffuser and side skirts, all adding to the lower, wider stance. Two new colours will also be added to the range; Ascari blue and Kemora grey.
Full pricing and specification is yet to be released before its anticipated release in early 2019.
