Bentley launch Pikes Peak special edition to celebrate record run

Bentley will produce 10 special edition Bentayga’s to celebrate breaking the production SUV record at this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The almost standard Bentayga completed the run in 10min 49.9 seconds, beating the previous record of 12min 35.61 set by a Range Rover Sport in 2013. The Bentayga used the same 6.0-litre W12 petrol engine with 600bhp and 664lb ft of torque from the production version. The enhancements to the record setting version were minimal, with a safety cage fitted, a minor modification to the front bumper to allow for extra cooling and an Akrapovic sports exhaust.

The special-edition will be offered in two options, Beluga black and Radium and it will ride on bespoke, 22 inch wheels finished in a two-tone design to match the exterior. The exterior also gets Bentley’s Black Specification pack, which replaces the exterior chrome with gloss black, as well as a carbonfibre splitter, side skirts, diffuser and rear spoiler.

The interior is treated to Beluga leather, with Alcantara inserts and lime accents, as well as an alcantara covered steering wheel and gearleaver. A Pikes Peak logo sits proudly on the carbonfibre fascia as well as on the front wheel arches.

Bentley won’t announce the price until August, however it’s safe to assume a substantial increase over the standard price of £162,700.
