The Bentley Mulsanne gets a revamp
Bentley has given the Mulsanne a revamp for its 2016 second generation, the car receives styling and technology updates as well as two new models for the range.
The Mulsanne range now consists of four different models; the Mulsanne, Speed and variations of the Extended Wheelbase (EW) option. The EW is a new addition and offers two specifications, one with an additional 250mm leg room in the rear of the cabin and the other offering a six seat layout. The chassis has been revised with new active engine mounts and suspension bushes, creating a smoother and quieter ride.
The luxury saloon has been given a modern facelift across the exterior; there is a new bonnet and front and rear bumpers. The new stainless steel grille has wider, more prominent slats and meshing. There is also a redesigned radiator and new adaptive all-LED lights.
The interior has been restyled; there are reclining seats and new trims across the cabin, including the doors and armrests. The cabin has glass instruments and a choice of 24 different coloured leathers which can be used in single or two-tone styles.
The infotainment system is given new technology, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen and new Sat-Nav. The system is now compatible with MirrorLink, Apple Carplay and Android Auto and has a 60GB hard drive. In the rear there are two 10.2inch detachable Android tablets, which link to the infotainment system and the Sat-Nav. The tablets connect to Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth. Clients can upgrade to a Naim audio system with 18-speakers, 19 channels, super tweeter and a 2,200 watt amplifier at an added price. Other new in-car technology consists of surrounding-adapting headlights, a new stability control system and blind-spot monitoring system.
The standard model runs on a 6.75-litre V8 engine linked to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission producing 505bhp and 752lb ft of torque. The Mulsanne is capable of 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and has a flat out speed of 184mph.
The Speed model is powered by the same engine, however it has been tweaked to produce an increased 530bhp and is capable of 0-60mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 190mph.
The 2016 Mulsanne is on sale now, with deliveries starting this autumn. Pricing for the standard model starts at £229,360, the Speed variant begins at £252,000 and the Extended Wheelbase tops the range at £275,000.
