BMW announce new i8 Protonic special editions

BMW has announced the production of two new special edition i8’s for 2017. The first Protonic Frozen Black edition will be unveiled at Geneva next month.

The Protonic special editions feature bespoke colour schemes and updated styling. The first Frozen-Black edition will debut at the Geneva Motor Show and order books will open in April. The second Frozen Yellow will make an appearance later in year.

The first new Protonic Frozen edition is finished in special black paint with contrasting black high gloss body inserts. The interior is styling features a dark interior with contrasting highlighting stitching in bright yellow, running around the seats and console. The alloys have been uprated and there is more ceramic carbon-fibre trim in the cabin. The bright two-tone Frozen Yellow edition will follow later in 2017.

The Protonic i8 special editions run on the same 1.5-litre 3 cylinder petrol engine and electric motor producing a combined 357bhp. The car has a top speed of 155mph and accelerates from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds.
