BMW Bringing the New 2 Series to 2014

BMW have released prices and specs for the new BMW 2 Series Coupe, due to make its public debut in January at the Detroit Motor Show. The new 2 Series is the coupe version of the 1 Series, set to rival the Audi TT. This model will hold the same wheelbase as the 1 Series, with an additional 30litres of boot space, taking the total space up to 390litres. On the downside, the 2 Series will only be available with two individual backseats. Prices for the new 2 Series are anticipated to start at £24,000, with a much quicker M2 version set for 2015, estimated at around £45,000. The M235i will be produced as a racing model to remain on the tracks, priced at approximately 59,500 euros. As with any BMW, we expect to see the production of a convertible model around 6 months after the initial model goes on sale, with anticipations of a 4-door in the future. BMW have concentrated on offering a much sportier driving experience with the new 2 Series. Currently, there are three versions of the 2.0litre four-cylinder diesel; offering 141bhp for the 218d, 181bhp for the 220d and 215bhp for the 225d. The petrol options offered include the 181bhp 2.0l four-cylinder turbo and the top of the range M2351, with a 3.0litre six-cylinder turbo engine. The M235i achieves 0-62mph in an impressive five seconds with the 6-speed manual gearbox, and an even quicker 4.8 seconds with the eight-speed automatic.
