BMW launch new high-performance X4 M40i

BMW has unveiled the new range-topping M-Performance X4 SUV; the X4 M40i.

The new model has higher performance and improved dynamics, thanks to its TwinPower Turbo 3-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. Faster and more powerful than the rest of the range, with 355bhp and 343lb ft of torque, the X4 M40i delivers 0-62mph in an impressive 4.9 sec, reaching a top speed of 155mph.

Other M-Performance upgrades include adaptive dampers, increased camber on the front axle, a sports exhaust system with valve control, sports suspension with uprated springs and anti-roll bars.  There’s also BMWs xDrive 4-wheel drive system with rear wheel-drive characteristics.

The M treatment is also applied externally, with bespoke colour accents, chrome tailpipes and 20 inch double-spoke light alloy wheels. Internally the SUV is kitted out with a leather steering wheel, sports seats, X4 M40i specific door sill plates and M gearshift lever.

The new model goes on sale this quarter, with UK pricing expected to be higher than the £49,295 X4 xdrive35d M Sport.
