Chevrolet Unveil New 744bhp Corvette ZR1 Convertible

Following the release of the Corvette ZR1, Chevrolet have announced a drop-top version to sit alongside the coupe upon its release in 2018.

The ZR1 features a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that generates an astounding 744bhp and 715lb ft of torque. Buyers can spec either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine used originates from the Z06, but has been heavily reworked with a new, larger supercharger, upgraded fuel injection system and extra radiators. All these upgrades mean the ZR1 has a top speed of 212mph and a 0-60mph time below three seconds.

Corvette Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter highlights that “The ZR1 is a no-compromise supercar. Thanks to the strong structure, the suspension tuning between coupe and convertible models is identical, meaning the ZR1 convertible offers the same benchmark performance, including a top speed of over 200mph.”

Based on current exchange rates the convertible ZR1 will cost around £93,000 before tax and will be released in 2018. UK customers will need to do some research as both the coupe and convertible won’t be available through official channels in the UK.
