Details have been revealed of the upcoming Mercedes CLS which will start from £57,510 and is available to order now. Three engines will be on offer from the launch, a 350d and a 400d make up the diesel offering at £57,510 and £60,410 respectively, with a petrol CLS 450 being offered from £57,610.  Further AMG models will be unveiled at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show at the start of 2018.

Those who order the launch models will only be able to order AMG Line trim, which features Mercedes’ dual-screen display that’s been showcased in the E and S Class. As expected, various packages will be available including the Comfort Package, which includes Nappa leather, air suspension and Mercedes’ air purification system. All three available engines provide plenty of power, with the entry level 350d offering a 3.0-litre in-line six diesel which offers 282bhp and 442lb ft of torque through a nine speed auto gearbox. The 400d offers more power with 335bhp and 442lb ft of torque. The petrol 450 offers 362bhp and 396lb ft of torque, as well as gaining extra boost from an electric motor that generates 22bhp, which contributes to the 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds, quicker than the 5.7 seconds for the 350d and 5.0 seconds for the 400d.

The new CLS retains its distinctive CLS look, with a low roofline, hunched rear arches and forward slanting nose. A new wider grille and front LED headlamps refresh the front of the new CLS and provide a welcome addition alongside the new technology offered inside.
