Ferrari reveals the drop-top LaFerrari

Ferrari has teased the very first images of the 2017 LaFerrari ‘convertible’, which is set to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The name of the ‘Spider’ version of the 217mph LaFerrari is still to be confirmed, however three official images reveal the design and dramatic look of the hotly anticipated roofless hypercar.

The new model will be available in both soft-top and hard-top variants; the hard-top roof is made of lightweight carbonfibre and will be removable. The new model receives a roll-over hoop and a pair of additional rear buttresses.

The car has undergone serious rework to the chassis and aerodynamics to balance the extra weight and instability the open-top adds. The chassis has been tweaked to maintain stiffness and the drag coefficient remains the same as the Coupe.

Ferarri has promised the performance statistics for the open-top will be exactly the same as the Coupe – 0-62mph in 3 seconds and a top speed of 217mph. The new LaFerrari will be powered by the same hybrid system, featuring an electric motor and a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12, resulting in a total combined output of 950bhp.

The new model will be unveiled fully on the 1st October at the Paris Motor Show.  The open-top will be produced in a limited run, with pricing to be confirmed later.
