Ferrari unveil 70th Anniversary Editions in Paris
Ferrari has pulled the covers off the first 5 of its bespoke 70th anniversary edition cars at the Paris Motor Show.
The limited edition cars are designed to pay homage to the most iconic cars throughout Ferrari’s history and will be made by Ferrari’s ‘Tailor Made’ division. There will 350 unique models all based on the current 5 models in the range, but with historic sport liveries.
The five models include a California T designed to pay tribute to Steve MCQueen’s 250 GT Lusso, a F12 Berlinetta dressed as Stirling Moss’s 250 GT SWB, a 488 Spider styled as David Piper’s 362 P racing car and a beautiful 488 GTB dubbed ‘The Schumacher’ which mirrors the styling of the F1 F2203-GA 2003 championship-winning car.
The Steve McQueen inspired model is based on his brown 1963 250 GT Lusso, which he bought for his wife. The car went on to compete in the Mille Miglia. It is finished in a metallic brown with camel leather interior.
The Stirling F12 Berlinetta is based on the car that Stirling Moss won with in the Tourist Trophy in 1961. The car is finished in Blu Scuro paint with white stripes and racing number roundel.
The 488 Spider ‘The Green Jewel’ is based on David Piper’s racing 365 P2 which drove to victory at the nine hours of Kyalami in 1965 and 1966. It is beautifully finished in bright green paint with a black leather interior, apart from the driver’s seat which is bright red.
The last stunning model, a 488 GTB called ‘The Schumacher’, is based on his winning Formula One car from 2003. The car is finished in Ferrari Red with White highlights and the interior is trimmed in beige leather with yellow paddle shift gears on the steering wheel. The exterior Ferrari badges have been hand-painted on the wing.
The LaFerrari Aperta was also revealed as part of the Show in Paris.
All the cars bear a chrome ’70 1947-2017’ plaque to commemorate the 70th anniversary. No details have been released yet for pricing and delivery of the 350 bespoke models.
