Ferrari unveil new 488 Pista Spider…
Ferrari’s stunning new 488 Pista Spider has debuted at Pebble Beach, California. The new model is the 50th open top built by Ferrari, and is even more technologically advanced than the LaFerrari Aperta hypercar.
Capable of 0-62mph in just 2.85 seconds and a top speed of 211mph, the 488 Pista Spider benefits from Ferrari’s most powerful V8 yet, developing 710bhp and 569lb ft of torque. The new car features Ferrari’s Dynamic Enhancer technology, which improves corner speeds and balance by managing brake pressure across all four callipers.
The roof folds down in less than 30 seconds and all of the coupe’s key aerodynamic features are retained, meaning there is no increase in drag or reduction in downforce when the roof is closed compared to the Pista coupe. There are a host of weight-saving features, including carbon fibre trims, aluminium tread plates rather than carpets and door straps in place of handles. There’s even the option of carbon fibre wheels that are 20% lighter than the standard forged alloys.
Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to be in the region of £275,000. The 488 Pista Spider will go on sale later this year.
