Future Family for the Audi TT
Audi have revealed their TT Offroad concept at the Beijing Motor Show; a serious rival to the Porsche Macan, BMW X4 and Range Rover Evoque if it reaches production, which remains uncertain. The concept is powered by a 402bhp hybrid which combines a 288bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine with a 40kw electric motor. In electric mode the concept can travel a maximum of 31 miles, helping the fuel economy reach 148mpg. An innovative feature by Audi enables wireless charging by parking over a designed plate, allowing the concept to charge in approximately the same amount of time of a standard plug in with half the hassle. Using only the electric power, the concept has a top speed of 80mph; however with the engine combined this is increased and limited to 155mph. The concept has impressive performance figures, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds. The concept is built on the flexible MQB platform and has similar dimensions to the current Q3 model, although it is much lower giving it a sportier design. The concept reveal has shown the potential future for a family of TT models.
