Gran Coupé Goes to Geneva

BMW are set to add a new model to their exceptional 4-series line up; the 4-door Gran Coupé. The latest model is anticipated to debut at the Geneva Motor Show, ahead of going on sale in the UK in June. Prices for the Gran Coupé are still to be confirmed; however it is expected to be £5000 more than the current 3-series saloon. The appearance will be much sportier, with an enlarged curved roofline; nevertheless it will still be a very practical motor, particularly with the addition of the rear doors. The Gran Coupé will hold the same structure as the 4-series coupe, using a 2810mm wheelbase. The length and width are also expected to be the same, with the new model being marginally taller at 1370mm in height and the boot size matching that of the 3-series saloon. All the doors of the Gran Coupé are frameless and the front doors have been reduced in size to make room for the rear doors. The structure of these has been reinforced, adding an additional 100kg to the kerb weight. Official figures are yet to be released, however we expect this will have an impact on the performance. The Gran Coupé will have the same four and six-cylinder engines, with rear-wheel drive as a standard and all-wheel drive optional on certain models.
