Introducing Audi’s new A5 and S5 Sportback

Audi has revealed the 2017 A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback, the all-new models will make their official world debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The new A5 and S5 Sportback follow the release of the new Coupe variants, and feature the same advanced technology and updated styling. The Sportback models offer more cabin space, four doors and weight savings.

The Sportback has a sleeker profile and a lengthened rear end. The new models feature 17mm more cabin space, and boot space has increased to 480-litres. Across the range significant weight-savings have been made – up to 85kg.

The A5 Sportback is offered in two TFSI petrol engines and three TDI diesels. The performance for the largest 2.0-litre 249bhp TFSI petrol stands at 0-62mph in 6 seconds. The diesel line up is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and two 3.0-litre 6 cylinder engines.  The range-topper is the 282bhp 3.0-litre TDI, which features turbine geometry.

Four-wheel drive is standard across the range and Quattro four-wheel drive is optional. The 282bhp TDI and the S5 comes with Quattro four-wheel drive as standard and sport differentials are available. Suspension uses variable damping control technology and  the car has 4 drive modes; Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Efficiency. Three transmissions are on offer; a six speed manual, a seven speed daul clutch S-tronic automatic and an eight-speed tiptronic automatic.

The faster S5 Sportback receives sportier upgrades including a new lip spoiler, front and rear bumpers, matt grey highlights and bespoke alloy wheels. The interior is upgraded with premium quilted leather, carbonfibre and aluminium trim as well as embossed ‘S’ logos.

The S5 runs on a turbocharged V6 petrol engine, producing 346bhp and 369lb ft of torque. The car has a limited top speed of 155mph and can sprint from 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds.

Both come with a host of driver assist programs and the latest infotainment and connectivity technology.

Order books will open at the end of September after the Paris Motor Show. Pricing and delivery dates are yet to be revealed.
