Introducing the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet

The first super-luxurious open-top Maybach has been revealed at the LA Motor Show. Only 300 limited edition Mercedes-Maybach convertibles will be built.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Maybach Cabriolet, which is Mercedes most premium offering. The S650 is based on Mercedes’ new AMG-engined S-Class, which was recently been released and shares the same aluminium underpinnings.

The four-seat convertible packs a punch, powered by a 6.0-litre bi-turbo V12 petrol engine, which produces a massive 625bhp and 738lb ft of torque. The car has a 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7G-tronic automatic transmission. The AirMatic suspension system has been tweaked especially for the Maybach.

The S650 has a host of bespoke trims and each customer will be able to personalise their car to a high degree. Although based on the same exterior structure as the S-class, the S650 has been restyled and features more stylish emebellishment. There is a new front bumper, extensive use of chrome, Swarovski crystal encrusted headlamps, bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels. Maybach badges adorn the grill and wings.

The Maybach has endless detailing and all the bells and whistles. ‘1 of 300’ lettering and plagues can be found in cabin, denoting the cars exclusivity. Each S650 comes with a luggage set consisting of four bags, two small lifestyle bags and two large travel bags. Each piece of luggage is Maybach branded and made to match each buys car interior colour. The car comes with a diamond quilted car cover in the same colour as the soft-top roof. The cabin is finished with premium plush upholstery and fitted with advanced technology.

Production will be limited to a mere 300 units and will be on sale in the UK by spring 2017. Pricing starts at £260,000.
