Jaguar E-type Reborn – 10 new restorations announced

Jaguar has announced its E-type Reborn programme will launch in April at the Techno-Classica show in Essen, Germany.

The first of ten Reborn cars will be on display at the show – a Series 1 E-type, Fixed Head Coupe in Gunmetal Grey.  The car has been in storage since 1983, having clocked up 78,000 miles, and will be returned to the road with its original engine, bodywork and gearbox fully restored by the Jaguar Classic team.

The programme will focus on restoration, rather than replacement, retaining as much of the original car as possible, although certain safety-critical parts will be all new and some of the body panels will be replaced with corrosion-resistant ones.

All ten of the initial run will be Series 1 E-types, rebuilt to 1960s specification.  Pricing is dependent on spec, but is expected to be in the region of £285,000.
