Jaguar XE SV Project 8 smashes Nurburgring lap record
Jaguar’s eagerly awaited SV Project 8 has broken the saloon car record at the Nurburgring with a time of 7min 21.2 seconds, 11 seconds faster than the previous record held by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Jaguar’s upcoming XE SV Project 8 is set to be released in 2018, with production due to commence early next year. The project 8 will cost from £149,995 and features a bounty of technical highlights, which all have contributed to achieving this new record. Power is supplied by a supercharged V8 which delivers 592bhp and a top speed of 200mph. Adjustable suspension and aerodynamics make an appearance and are triggered by engaging ‘Track Mode’ from the cockpit, which lowers the ride hide by 15mm and alters the carbonfibre front and rear wings to engage their maximum downforce setting.
Those looking for something harder will be pleased to hear the four-seater can also be had with an optional ‘Track Pack’, which sees the front seats replaced with carbonfibre racing seats and the rear bench stripped out and replaced with a harness bar and four-point harness.
Production of the Project 8 will commence in 2018 with only 300 models expected to be built. The official unveil is still awaited, however, being crowned ‘fastest four-door’ is a fantastic accolade to put under its belt in the run up to the big day.
