Jensen Set for Return with New Jensen GT

Jensen Set for Return with New Jensen GT

Jensen group have been revived after 13 years and are intending on coming back with a vengeance. Recent announcements have confirmed that Jensen is back with two prospective new models for the 2016 automotive market place. This is result of collaboration between The Jensen Group and Jensen International Automotive. First out for production will be the Jensen GT followed by a new updated model in the form of a 2016 Interceptor.

The new GT  it has currently only been shown in a clay model but it is set to bridge the gap between the new and second car pipelined for production 2016 Interceptor and the older, more recognisable Jensen’s of the 1970’s.

It’s considered by Jensen to be much more performance focussed than the old Interceptor and customers have been assured that the retro vintage image of the Jensen is restricted to the exterior and aesthetics of the vehicle rather than its dynamics and technology.  The new GT uses a supercharged V8 from GM producing 665 horsepower, linked to a six-speed manual or a six-speed semi-automatic sending the power to the rear wheels only.

The GT will be hand built in small numbers with volume actually dictated by demand above all else.  Each model will be bespoke and as such pricing has not yet been confirmed due to differences in cost being dictated by individual buyer’s desires. Prices are expected to be around the £350,000 region and the first models are likely to be ready in early 2016.
