Jenson Button’s Ford GT is up for grabs

Silverstone Auctions’ have announced that Jenson Button’s 2005 Ford GT will go under the hammer at the Race Retro auction.

The former Formula 1 world champion’s Ford GT will go to auction on the 25th February. Button originally bought the first generation Ford GT from new in 2005. It is a rare example as it is one of only 5 models marked ‘VIP’ from the European allocation of 101 cars given specifically to prestigious or celebrity owners.

The 2005 GT carries an aggressive and iconic silhouette taking its design language from the Le Mans era GT40. Button’s example was finished in white with blue racing livery stripes in homage to the infamous Carroll Shelby.

The car is in great condition and has been serviced by Mountune and Ford GT specialists. The car comes with service documentation. The GT runs on the Ford supercharged 550bhp V8 engine has 8,350 miles on the clock. The car is capable of 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of over 205mph.

Button’s Ford GT will go under the hammer on the 25th Feb at Silverstone’s Race retro. Due to its original buyer the GT is expected to go for around £250,000 – £300,000.
