Koenigsegg Agera RS now the world’s fastest production car
The Koenigsegg Agera RS has smashed the current production car top speed record with a blisteringly quick 277.9mph. The 1341bhp supercar recorded the new record on a closed 11 mile stretch of road in Nevada, USA.
The Agera RS is the final hurrah for the long standing Agera line and generates a colossal 1341bhp from a 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and is priced at over £1m. The car produced an average reading of 277.9mph, smashing the Hennessey Venom GT’s record of 270.49mph. What’s even more impressive is that the recorded speed is the average, the uphill side saw 271mph, whereas the return run exceeded 284mph.
A potential future successor could be the Bugatti Chiron, which is currently hindered by the 261mph limit and the current tyres. However, with Michelin creating a new tyre, a new world record could be on the horizon.
