Lamborghini announce first SUV

Lamborghini has announced it will release its first SUV in 2018. Based on the Urus concept car, the new turbocharged SUV line will sit alongside the V12 Aventador and the Huracan V10 supercars.

Designed to take on the likes of Range Rover, the high-powered, luxurious SUV is expected to debut at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show. In keeping with Lamborghini’s ‘Made in Italy’ values, the new model will be produced at the Sant’Agata plant. Although based on the Urus, the SUV is likely to carry a new badge, so design and styling can be expected to change considerably.

Full spec details are yet to be released, but it is known that the 4X4 will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine for low-down torque and off-road ability. Demand for the SUV is expected to be high, with an extra 3000 sales forecast per year, doubling current production. With a price tag of around £120,000, the new SUV will be the cheapest model in Lamborghini’s line up.
