Land Rover Celebrate 6 Millionth Vehicle

Land Rover celebrated the production of its 6 millionth car this week at the Shanghai Motor Show.  The milestone marks 67 years since Land Rover built its first model, with sales now stronger than at any other time in the company’s history.

The landmark car, a white Range Rover LWB Vogue SE, has received a subtle modification to recognise its significance – a new puddle light projector from the wing mirrors, inscribed ‘six million’.  Land Rover sales have grown dramatically in the last decade since its merger with Jaguar in 2008.  Of the 6 million car sales, one third have been in the last eight years, driven by new models such as the  Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Discovery Sport.

Andy Goss, JLR group sales operations director said, “It’s fitting that the 6,000,000th Land Rover to be produced is a Range Rover, since this year marks the 45th anniversary of the original Range Rover’s launch and even today, the vehicle remains peerless.”

The 6 millionth Land Rover will remain in China, Andy Goss adding, “With the growth of sales in China since the latest version of the Range Rover was introduced in 2012, it is entirely appropriate that this landmark vehicle is destined for a Chinese customer.”
