Land Rover Reveal 400bhp V8 Defender

To mark the 70th anniversary in style Land Rover has resurrected the iconic Defender in a blaze of horsepower glory, with a limited-run, high performance special edition, with 400 horsepower and a 5.0-litre petrol V8.

Called the Defender Works, this special edition pays homage to the V8 models of the past and has been substantially enhanced to accommodate the extra power on offer. The V8 will be mated to an eight-speed auto gearbox and features bigger brakes, uprated springs, dampers and anti-rolls bars. 18-inch diamond-turned Sawtooth alloys with all-terrain tyres, will help see the special edition hit 0-62mph in 5.6s and a top speed of 106mph.

Customers will be able to choose either the 90 or 110 body styles , from 150 ‘specially selected’ Defender chassis, that have been re-engineered for the high performance model. Eight exterior paint colours will be available with a contrasting black roof, as well as machined aluminium handles, fuel cap and bonnet lettering. The front lights are upgraded to bi-LED headlights, whilst the inside is treated to Recaro seats, Land Rover’s infotainment system and swathes of luxurious Windsor leather.

Prices for the Defender Works start from £150,000 for the 90 variant. Whilst steep, this could be the opportunity to purchase a rare future classic that pays homage to the V8 Defenders of the past. Potential customers need to be quick as only 150 units will be produced, further adding to the future rarity.
