The Lexus IS gets a facelift for 2017

Lexus has revealed the new tweaked IS and confirmed UK pricing. The new generation will be sleeker and feature new technology.

The IS was unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show and follows Lexus’ new design philosophy, which it is rolling out across the range. The next generation IS has a new sleeker style, new suspension and advanced technology.

The car has a large distinctive grille, redesigned headlights and LED running lights. The air intakes have been made larger and the exterior of the car has a streamlined silhouette. The rear has reshaped headlights with LEDs and more chrome detailing.

The cabin features a new infotainment system with a larger 10.3-inch display screen. The instrument panel has been redesigned and the IS gets a new steering wheel. The IS now comes standard with  Lexus’ Safety Sense pack, which includes radar cruise control, auto high beam, lane departure and pre-collision warning technologies.  Lexus have overhauled the old IS suspension and redesigned it for better ride quality and stability. Electric steering has also been added to improve responsiveness.

The 2017 IS will be offered in a range of petrol engines and a powerful V8 for the sport IS F model. The petrol choices consist of a 2.0-litre 220bhp unit and a 2.5-litre engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined 242bhp.

The Lexus IS will go on sale in January and pricing in the UK starts at £29,995 for the entry-level model, rising to £37,995 for the range topper.
