Lotus launches the Elise Race 250

The new variant of the Elise is the fastest model in the Elise range thus far and is competition eligible.

The Lotus Race 250 is track-focused and FIA compliant, featuring an adjustable anti-roll bar, double wishbone suspension with Eibach coaxial springs and Nitron adjustable dampers. The car also features other circuit-designed tweaks, such as a removable steering wheel and carbon race seat with harnesses.

Under the bonnet is a supercharged 1.8- litre four-cylinder engine, producing 243bhp with 184 lb ft of torque. The new Elise is the fastest yet, with a 1 minute 33 seconds lap time round the Hethel test track.

The aerodynamics kit and lightweight chassis keep the car’s weight to a minimum – just 68 kg. The car is built on an aluminium platform and has lightweight material components internally and externally.

The Race 250 receives two-piston AP racing brake calipers at the front and the rear receives single Brembo calipers. The front and rear have 16” inch and 17” forged alloys with semi slick rubber tires from Yokohama.

Pricing for the Lotus Elise Race 250 starts at £53,500, with first deliveries due in 2017. Lotus has added a host of new models to its line-up in celebration of 50 years at their Hethel base.
