Lotus reveal fastest road-going Exige yet

Lotus has unveiled the new Exige Cup 380, a track-inspired special edition capable of 175mph.

Weighing just 1057kg (62kg less than the standard Exige), the Cup 380 will be limited to just 60 examples.  Extensive use of carbonfibre bodywork accounts for most of the weight loss, with the roof, side pods, front splitter, front access panel, diffuser, tailgate and rear wing all replaced.

The 3.5-litre supercharged V6 is the same engine used in the other 380 models, delivering 375bhp and 302lb ft of torque.  This equates to a power-to-weight ratio of 355bhp per tonne

The Cup 380 features a number of aerodynamic upgrades, including a new front splitter and rear wing, delivering up to 200kg of downforce – 43% more than the Sport 380.  The increased downforce is complimented by 20mm wider tyres.

Priced at £83,000, the 60 coupes are likely to sell fast.
