Maserati Levante Trofeo unveiled with 581bhp

Maserati have unveiled a new performance version of its Levante SUV, called the Trofeo. The Trofeo will benefit from the Ferrari built 3.8-litre V8, which will generate a colossal 581bhp and a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds. This means the new Trofeo will offer 39 more horsepower than the new Porsche Cayenne and Jaguar F-Pace.

The Ferrari-derived 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 will generate 58bhp more than when it was used in the Quattroporte saloon. This has been achieved by using new turbochargers, and various redesigned engine components. The Trofeo will channel all the power from the V8 through Maserati’s own rear-biased all-wheel drive system, which will now feature a Corsa mode. This mode, combined with a new launch mode, will see the SUV hit 62mph in just 3.9 seconds and continue on to a top speed of over 186mph.

The Levante retains its rugged SUV stance and is enhanced by the new lower chin spoiler and opened up front air intakes. A more aggressive rear bumper and new side sills add to the sporty look, as well as the new 22-inch wheels which complete the refreshed design.

Production of the new Levante Trofeo is due to start in the summer, however a UK sale date and price is yet to be confirmed.
