McLaren 570GT set to debut at London Motor Show
McLaren has confirmed the new £154,000 570GT will make its first UK appearance at next week’s London Motor Show.
The latest addition to McLaren’s Sport Series range is designed to take on Porsche as ‘the ultimate practical sports car’, combining luxurious features with 370 litres of boot space – more than a Ford Focus hatchback.
The new Gran Tourer is powered by the same engine as the Coupe – a 562bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The glass rear end makes the 570GT 37kg heavier than the Coupe, meaning 0-62mph is two-tenths slower at 3.4secs.
The interior is updated with full leather upholstery, soft-close doors and electrically adjustable heated seats and steering. There’s also a quieter exhaust system, and the panoramic glass roof/glass rear deck combination gives a light, roomy feel.
McLaren expect to sell 400-500 570GTs in 2016, with first deliveries scheduled for the end of the year.
