McLaren 570S Coupe is Officially Revealed.

McLaren 570S Coupe is Officially Revealed.

McLaren’s first version of its new entry-level sport series, the 570S, was officially revealed at the New York Motor Show last month.

The 570S is powered by a version of the company’s ubiquitous 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, found in the 650S supercar and P1 hypercar, which is matched to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

The two seater coupe can manage the 0-62mph sprint in 3.2sec and will reach 100mph in 6.3 seconds, before heading on to a top speed of 204mph.

McLaren claims that the 570S will be its most useable car to date, with reasonable running costs as it will return 25.8mpg and emit 258g/km of CO2.

On the outside, the 570S is similar to other McLaren’s models with a large glass area surrounding the ‘cockpit’ and thin ‘A’-pillars to ensure a good view out.  To the rear though, the new car looks different with a ‘flying buttress’ pillar design, together with a vertical glass rear window and an engine cover that fits snugly over the V8  engine.

McLaren’s executive director, Jolyon Nash, said that the 570S ‘…is probably the most important car in our short history. It’s a game changer in the segment and will transform and double our business.”

The 570S Coupe is now on sale and its price tag is around £140,000.
