McLaren has launched a convertible version of their flagship supercar, the 720S. All the details for this long-awaited car have now been released, including its £237k price tag and details of its folding carbon fibre roof.
The 720S Spider will use the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from its coupe sibling, which generates 710bhp and it will retain the same 0-62mph sprint time of 2.9s as its sibling. The Spider will hit 212mph with the roof down up and 202mph with it down.
The striking hardtop canopy is crafted out of carbon fibre to keep the weight down to just 49kg, which means the Spider is still 88kg lighter than a Ferrari 488 Spider. The roof can be dropped in just 11 seconds, which McLaren claim is the fastest in its class. The roof can be ordered with an electrochromic glass panel which can switch between tinted and transparent in when the roof is raised.
The 720S Spider costs from £237k and first deliveries are expected to arrive with customers in March 2019.
