McLaren reveal limited-run 600LT
McLaren has revealed it will make a limited-run, track focused version of the 570S called the 600LT. This lightweight McLaren will be priced from £185,000 and will be a direct rival to the 911 GT3 RS.
The 600LT receives a series of performance and aesthetic upgrades over the 570S. Power is still provided by the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine, however thanks to a new exhaust now produces 592bhp, 30bhp more than the standard. Interestingly the outlets now appear out the rear top deck, similar to the Porsche 918 Spider. Weight has been reduced by 96kg thanks to new carbonfibre elements, including the bucket seats and also by reducing the sound deadening. All this effort results in a power to weight ratio of 474bhp/tonne, 25bhp/tonne more than the Ferrari 488 GTB. Improvements have also been made to the chassis and steering rack to sharpen up the handling.
The 600LT will only be built by McLaren Special Operations for a limited 12 months. At £185k it finds itself amongst competition like the Ferrari 488 GTB and Lamborghini Huracan, however its rarity and more hard-core focus may set it apart from the competition. Production for the 600LT begins in October and the price of the car includes a Pure McLaren Road Owner Track Day at a circuit with driving tuition.
