McLaren’s ‘First Sports Series Model; The 570S Coupé.

McLaren has announced the first version of its new entry-level sport series, the 570S, which will be revealed at the New York Motor Show next week.

The two-seater 570S coupe takes its name from its power output in metric horsepower, which translates to 562bhp. The official teaser image released shows a close-up of the car’s B-pillar in McLaren’s signature orange colour and indicates a flying buttress design.

The 570S is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged 3.8litre V8 engine and do 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, at a top speed of 203mph, making it thus faster than Porsche 911. It will be the first of three models in the Sports Series range, with a convertible Spider and a more spacious GT model set to join the line-up later.

Class-leading levels of performance, optimised handling characteristics and driving dynamics are expected as the 570S marks the first time McLaren has offered its pioneering and race-derived technologies in the sports car sector.

Further details of the 570S Coupe will be revealed next week  with prices expected to start at about £140,000.
