Mercedes-AMG E53 revealed for summer 2018

Mercedes have revealed the new Mercedes-AMG E53 4Matic+, that will be replacing the current E43. Visually, the all-new E53 may not look that different to the outgoing model, however under the bonnet it’s a different story. The all-new model will feature a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 3-litre in-line six engine, with Mercedes’ EQ Boost electric motor, replacing the outgoing E43’s twin-turbo 3-litre V6.

The E53’s new powertrain will be matted to a nine-speed automatic transmission which delivers 429bhp and 383lb ft. of torque, 33bhp more than its predecessor. The E53 boasts a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds, a top speed of 155mph and an average combined cycle mpg of 35.2mpg.

The E53 will be offered in both saloon and estate body variants, with costs starting from £61,835 and £63,835 respectively. Customers can expect first deliveries of the E53 in July 2018.
