The Mercedes-AMG GT and GT C Roadsters

Mercedes-AMG has revealed the entry-level GT Roadster and the more powerful GT C Roadster. The new drop-tops were revealed at the Paris Motor Show and join the performance focused range.

The new Mercedes-AMG convertibles are based on the Coupe and feature much of the same genetics. The powertrain remains the same in both, a 4.0-litre V8 engine; however the GT C packs more of a punch.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Roaster produces 469bhp and 465lbft of torque from the V8 and is capable of 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds with a top speed of 188mph. The folding roof can be opened and closed at speed of up to 31mph and takes 11 seconds to deploy. There is a choice of red, black or beige for the roof colour. Both convertibles can be specified in a choice of 11 exterior colours and 10 interior.

The more powerful GT C Roadster has more aggressive styling than the entry-level, it is wider and has larger wheels. The V8 engine has been tuned to produce 550bhp and 502lb ft of torque. It has a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds and top speed of 196mph. The GT C gets a few additional l upgrades including an AMG performance exhaust system, race mode, a lithium-ion battery, electrically controlled locking differential and rear-wheel steering. The interior receives premium Nappa leather upholstery and an AMG performance steering wheel.

Pricing for the entry-level GT Roadster starts at £110,145 and the GT C is priced at £143,245. UK deliveries are expected to start in April 2017.
