Mercedes-AMG’s 603bhp E-Class Estate
The new Mercedes- AMG E63 4Matic+ Estate is designed to go up against the RS6 and Cayenne. The new fast wagon will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The new AMG E-Class Estate is available in standard and S, both run on a hand-crafted tweaked 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine linked to a speedshift nine-speed automatic gearbox. The standard AMG E63 produces 563bhp and 553lb ft of torque and has sprints from 0-62mph in 3.5secs. The AMG S has a massive 603bhp and 623lb ft of torque and hits 0-62mph in 3.6secs.
The AMG E63 wagon comes with Race mode and drift mode. Both the standard and the S have a limited top speed of 155mph, until you add in the optional extra AMG Driver’s pack. The Driver’s pack gives the car an extra boost which then hits 180mph flat out in the wagon. Both version include air suspension and active dampers. The S has added style and engineering including electronic slip-diff, bigger carbon ceramic discs and dynamic engine mounts.
The fast and powerful estate is impressive and also has the usual practical advantages of a wagon. With all the seats up there is 640-litre of boot space. Once electronically folded down the boot space increases to a massive 1,820-litres. The interior infotainment and connectivity are in-line with rest of the AMG range.
The AMG E63 will be officially unveiled next month and go on sale in April. Full specification and pricing will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, expect a £90,000 ball park starting price for the E63 S.
