New 2018 Range Rover Sport revealed

Jaguar Land Rover have unveiled the first details and images of the upcoming 2018MY Range Rover Sport. JLR are offering a refreshed SVR with more power, but more importantly the brand have released details of its first plug-in hybrid model, called the Range Rover Sport P400e.

The P400e is the first step into electrification for JLR. It features a 2-litre Ingenium turbocharged petrol engine, alongside an 85kW electric motor. Combined, the total power output is 399bhp with 427lb ft of torque. The emissions and economy figures are equally impressive with 64g/km and 101mpg. The P400e benefits from two driving modes: the default is Parallel Hybrid mode, which combines both power sources and latter is the Predictive Energy Optimisation mode, which uses GPS altitude data to optimise the power source based on the gradient of the road. The hybrid model offers respectable power stats with a 0-60mph time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.

As well as the P400e a lighter, more traditional Sport will be offered with the new 2-litre Ingenium petrol engine with 296bhp. The range will also include a revised 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine with 518bhp. The SVR variant will feature a version of the 5-litre supercharged V8 with 567bhp, a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 176mph.

Additionally, the new Sport benefits from a facelift, comprising a new grille and bumpers, as well as a redesigned rear spoiler. The interior benefits from the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, with twin 10-inch touchscreens, first seen in the Velar.

The new Sport is available to order now, with deliveries expected to commence in early 2018.
