New Audi RS4 goes up against AMG C 63 estate

Audi have unveiled the upcoming RS4 Avant at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The junior super estate goes up against its closest rival; the V8 powered Mercedes AMG C 63. The all-new model uses the same 2.9-litre twin turbo V6 found in the RS5 coupe and replaces the 4.2-litre V8 from the previous RS4 Avant. The V6 generates 444bhp, 422lb ft of torque, 125lb ft more than its predecessor, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds. The RS4 will also use the same eight-speed auto gearbox found in the RS5.

The all-new model receives the typical RS treatment from Audi, including wider front and rear arches, large front air inlets and the signature RS honeycomb grille. The RS4 will ride a full 7mm lower than an S4, by utilising stock-fit RS sport suspension and will include 19 inch wheels as standard, with 20s available as an option.

Inside Audi doesn’t disappoint, with their Virtual-Cockpit being included as standard, which will feature RS-specific displays such as a G Force and Torque display. Black leather, a flat bottomed steering wheel all make an appearance, as well as an array of additional options available for those after a little bit extra.

The RS4 will hit the UK market in early 2018 with prices starting from £61,625.
