New Audi RS7 receives 700bhp hybrid power
Audi have confirmed that the New RS7 Sportback will be offered with two power options and that one of them will be the hybrid powertrain from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid.
The other, more conventional option will be the all-new 4-litre, twin-turbo V8, which can also be found in the Panamera Turbo and the upcoming Bentley Continental GT and will produce 650bhp. The power will be channelled through Audi’s Quattro system and an eight-speed S-tronic gearbox, which will deliver near 600lb ft of torque and a 0-62mph time of less than four seconds.
The hybrid option will offer more power and will be the first plug-in hybrid Audi performance model. The technology will be lifted from the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid and will feature a conventional combustion engine generating 550bhp, alongside an electric motor providing 150bhp, resulting in a combined power output of 700bhp.
The new Audi RS7 is due to go on sale in late 2018. Whilst prices are still yet to be confirmed, customers can expect the starting price to be more than £85,000.
