New Bentley Continental GT Convertible Spotted in UK
The hotly-anticipated 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible has been spotted on Britain’s roads for the first time. The sighting suggests the drop-top model will follow the coupe into production, and will feature the same W12 6.0-litre engine, delivering 626bhp and 664lb of torque.
Both the coupe and convertible models will be available with a 4.0-litre V8 engine, although it is unknown if this will be an option at launch. The UK sighting follows several in Scandinavia, where the car’s cold weather performance has been tested and engineers have worked on fine-tuning its Porsche-developed underpinnings.
The new Continental GT will offer a sharper, more responsive drive thanks to its innovative anti roll bar system, which drastically reduces body roll, counter leaning the car into corners, while also enhancing overall stability. The drivetrain boasts a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, which transmits power to all four wheels, with a rear bias for a more sporty feel.
The coupe model will go on sale this summer, with the convertible expected to follow at the start of 2019.
