New BMW M5 Competition Edition packs nearly 600bhp

BMW has unveiled its latest M5 super saloon – the M5 Competition Edition.

The new model features the same bi-turbo 4.4-litre V8, but power output is boosted to 592bhp, against the standard car’s 552bhp. The Competition Edition sprints from 0-62mph in a blistering 3.9sec, reaching a limited top speed of 155mph. It features an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, thicker anti-roll bars and firmer calibration for the springs and dampers.

There’s a choice of Comfort, Sport or Sport Plus drive modes (the latter for track use), with six-piston caliper brakes as standard. Externally, the new M5 boasts 20-inch, jet-black alloy wheels and a full complement of M Performance body parts. A choice of Mineral White or Carbon Black colours is available, and the interior is trimmed in Merino leather with contrasting Opal White stitching.

Just 200 examples will be built, each car engraved in the cabin with its number in the series. The M5 Competition Edition is available to order now for £100,995.
