New Elise Cup 250 is ‘purest four-cylinder Lotus yet’

Lotus has revealed its new 240bhp Elise Cup 250.  Weighing just 860kg, the new model can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.9 sec, reaching a top speed of 154mph.

The Cup 250 is powered by an all-alloy, 1.8-litre petrol engine and features fully independent double wishbone suspension, with a front anti-roll bar.  Damper rates are superior to the Elise Sport and Sprint and there’s an electronic stability program (ESP) with 3 driving modes: Drive, Sport and Off.

Lightweight materials have been used throughout the car, including carbonfibre, titanium and aluminium components, and the there’s also the option of a £4000 titanium exhaust system, saving a further 7kg.  16in (front) and 17in (rear) ultra-light alloy wheels come as standard.

The Cup 250 is priced from £47,400, with the lightest version costing £65,800.
