All-new Porsche Cayenne revealed
Porsche has unveiled its third generation Cayenne, which has undergone a complete overhaul both inside and out. The new Cayenne utilises the MLBevo platform found on the Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga and thanks to the extensive use of aluminium, the new Cayenne weighs a sniff under two tonnes (1985kg).
The all-new Cayenne will initially be offered with two turbocharged V6 petrol engines, a diesel and a V8 petrol, with hybrid options to follow later down the line. The standard Cayenne will benefit from a 3-litre turbocharged V6, which generates 335bhp and 332lb ft of torque, while the Cayenne S uses the 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 found in the in the Panamera S, capable of 433 bhp and 405lb ft of torque. As a result the standard V6 is capable of 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds and 5.2 seconds for the V6 in the Cayenne S.
The styling hasn’t gone unchecked and has also been subjected to a series of tweaks. The front appears relatively unchanged, with minor tweaks to the air vents and lower side arches, due to the larger wheels. The back is where the Cayenne appears different, with the addition of full length taillights taken from the Panamera. Inside, the Panamera’s 12.3-inch infotainment system makes an appearance, alongside a sea of glossy black surfaces, a welcome replacement to the predecessors button laden cockpit.
Both the Cayenne and Cayenne S are available to order now starting from £55,965 and £68,330 respectively and will be on the roads from April 2018.
