New Rolls-Royce Phantom Takes Luxury To The Next Level

Rolls-Royce has re-affirmed its position as the exemplar of opulence and luxury with the all-new Phantom.

The new model is the result of six years development work, which has seen the latest version completely overhauled and redesigned. The new Phantom is the first to carry the bespoke aluminium spaceframe architecture, resulting in a 30% increase in rigidity over the previous Phantom. Under the bonnet sits a new Rolls-Royce twin turbo 6.75 – litre V12, resulting in 664lb ft of torque and an impressive 563 bhp.

Inside, styling boss Giles Taylor describes how the luxurious interior provides “a sense of calm and isolation”. The designers have achieved this by increasing sound deadening within the vehicle and fitting 6mm double glazing, resulting in a 60db reduction at 62mph over the previous Phantom. The car also features a glass dashboard, the first of its kind, with a view to displaying specially commissioned artwork in the future on the passenger side.

The exterior has received a series of enhancements starting with the Spirit of Ecstasy standing an inch higher than previously. The front grille has been redesigned and integrated into the surrounding bodywork, flanked by the new ‘laserlight’ headlights, capable of projecting their light 600 metres.

The new Phantom is expected to cost around £400,000 and is expected to go on sale early next year.
