Nissan’s new 2016 GT-R is on sale now

The updated Nissan GT-R made its debut at the New York Motor show and is now available to order in the UK. The GT-R for 2016 is more powerful and receives a number of styling tweaks.

Three trim levels are available, Pure, Recaro and Prestige, as well as a special variant the ‘Track Edition’ with Nismo parts.

The new GT-R receives aesthetic and aerodynamic changes to the exterior, including a reinforced bonnet, new bumper design and the latest evolution of Nissan’s ‘V-motion’ front grille. The side sills have been made wider to increase airflow, while the other elements improve downforce and stability.

The 2016 facelift includes styling and tech updates to the cabin, which now features premium leather trim, a new 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system surrounded by carbonfibre detailing and steering wheel-mounted shift paddles.

The chassis and body structure has been made more rigid, improving the car’s stability at high speeds. The GT-R also receives a new suspension system, 20 inch wheels and a new titanium exhaust with ‘Active Sound Enhancement’.

The car runs on the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine however, the power has been ramped up to 562bhp at 6800rpm and 470lb of torque, sent to all four wheel via a 6 speed dual-clutch transmission. The Nismo Track Edition features the same V6 engine producing an impressive 592bhp.

The entry level specification GT-R (Pure) is priced at £79,995, the middle trim (Recaro) starts at £81,995 and the range-topping Prestige starts at £82,495. The special Nismo Track Edition will set you back £91,995.
